How did you come up with the draft priorities for the Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy?
We have reviewed the priorities in the current strategy and have started to discuss the new priorities with some of our stakeholders.
What temporary accommodation does the council use?
Different types of temporary accommodation are used. The most common being private sector leases, local authority or housing association properties, nightly purchased accommodation, and bed and breakfast.
How many cases of homelessness did the council deal with in the last year?
In the last 12 months, the London Borough of Harrow received 4139 homeless approaches and 1586 homeless applications.
What are the main reasons for homelessness cases in the borough?
Loss of private rented accommodation remains the leading cause of homelessness in the borough, followed by families and friends no longer willing or able to accommodate.
How many households are currently in temporary accommodation?
As of October 2024, there are 1335 households in temporary accommodation.
