Welcome to the North Harrow Bridge Improvements engagement page.

London Borough of Harrow's engagement on a proposed project to enhance the appearance of the bridges at North Harrow Station will run from Wednesday 25 June to 23:59 on Wednesday 6 August 2025.

Background

Each year, your local councillors are allocated funding through the Ward Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy (NCIL). This funding comes from new developments in the borough and is used to support local improvements to your area’s infrastructure. This can be a new provision or operation, or maintenance, improvement, or replacement of a current provision or operation.

In addition to Ward NCIL funding, councillors can also apply for additional support from the Central NCIL fund to help deliver larger or more ambitious local projects.

Proposals

We have received proposals to improve the Transport for London (TfL)-owned bridges at North Harrow Station, using Ward and Central NCIL funds to carry out the work. This includes:

  • Cleaning and painting the bridge structures
  • Stencilling “North Harrow” across the metal structure (known as outer parapets)
  • Cleaning the bridges including the inner and outer parapets, the walls, pavements, and nearby street furniture.

This proposal builds on feedback from the 2021/22 High Street Fund consultation in North Harrow, where residents supported improvements to the station bridge area, including painting and general enhancements. Although these could not be delivered at the time due to budget constraints, NCIL funding now offers a renewed opportunity to create a more welcoming environment around North Harrow Station.

We’d like to know whether you support using central and ward NCIL funds for improvements to the North Harrow Station bridges. Your feedback will determine whether the improvement work goes ahead.
