Why are the works being carried out?

The pond has a leak and years of silt build-up. Repairs will stop water loss, improve water quality, and create a better habitat for wildlife.

What is desilting and why is it needed?

Desilting removes the build-up of mud at the bottom of the pond. This improves water quality, restores depth, and supports wildlife.

When will the works take place?

Works are due to start in October 2025. There is no fixed end date yet, but updates will be provided.

Who is delivering and supervising the works?

The project is part of the Parks Capital Programme, delivered by specialist contractors and overseen by the Council’s Infrastructure and Parks Teams.

What will happen to the fish and birds?

Specialist contractors will safely manage fish and other aquatic life. Waterfowl will not be harmed and will benefit from the improvements.

How will the works affect Park visitors?

The pond will be fenced off and some paths closed, but most of the park will remain open. Access will be managed safely.

Will there be disruption or noise?

Some noise and vehicle movement are expected, but disruption will be kept to a minimum.

What will the pond look like afterwards?

The pond will be deeper, watertight, and healthier, with improved paths and lawns around it.

    How can I stay updated?

Updates will be posted on this page throughout the works.
