The Action for Silk Stream project is reaching the end of its delivery phase, and we would like to hear from residents, visitors, volunteers, businesses, community groups and local organisations across Barnet and Harrow.

Your feedback will help us understand what difference the project has made to local communities, green spaces, rivers, wildlife and flood resilience across the Silk Stream catchment.
The survey should take around 20 minutes to complete.
About the project
Action for Silk Stream is a major partnership project led by the London Borough of Barnet and the London Borough of Harrow, working with Thames21 and other partner organisations to help communities adapt to the impacts of climate change across the Silk Stream catchment.
Funded through Defra’s Flood and Coastal Resilience Innovation Programme (FCRIP), managed by the Environment Agency, the project has focused on using nature-based solutions to manage water more naturally. Through river restoration, wetland creation, sustainable drainage improvements and habitat enhancements, the project has helped reduce flooding, improved water quality, restored river habitats and enhanced biodiversity.
Action for Silk Stream has gone beyond flood risk. It has also transformed urban parks into safer, greener, and more inclusive spaces, and increased wellbeing and education, through the delivery of a six-year programme of volunteering sessions, and community events and activities.
Schemes delivered have included full park and river restorations at Watling Park and Chandos Park, the desilting of Temple Pond, a platform installation at Stoneyfields Park, water butt and planter installations at a school and on the Broadfields Estate in Barnet. In its final year the project will see river and landscaping improvements in The Meads Open Space and Lyndhurst Park.

As part of the final project evaluation, we want to understand:
- how awareness of flooding and climate resilience has changed
- whether local people have noticed improvements to rivers, parks, wildlife and green spaces
- how residents, volunteers, businesses and visitors have benefited
- what impact project events and volunteering activities have had
- whether the project has helped communities feel more prepared for future flooding
- and what should happen next in the Silk Stream catchment.
You do not need to have taken part in the project before. We are interested in hearing from anyone who lives, works, studies, volunteers, runs a business or visits parks and green spaces within the Silk Stream catchment.
