Welcome to Harrow's SEND and Alternative Provision Strategy engagement page.
London Borough of Harrow's engagement will run for 3 weeks from Tuesday 7 May to 23:59 on Tuesday 28 May 2024.
Background
The Local Area Special Educational and Disability (SEND) Partnership is seeking your views on SEND and Alternative Provision in Harrow. The Partnership is made up of services supporting children and young people with SEND from the Council, health and voluntary services, including the parent/carer forum. Your feedback will help us to develop the new SEND and Alternative Provision (AP) Strategy (Alternative Provision is education arranged by local authorities for pupils who, because of exclusion, illness or other reasons, would not otherwise receive suitable education; education arranged by schools for pupils on a fixed period exclusion; and pupils being directed by schools to off-site provision to improve their behaviour).
The current 2019-2024 SEND Strategy sets out the local area's vision and 4 key priority areas for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). We have reviewed the strategy as it comes to an end and are preparing to publish a new SEND and AP Strategy to identify our priorities for 2024 to 2029. We know that we have made good progress in some areas, but we still have a lot to do to improve outcomes for children and young people with SEND or who attend AP.
As part of this review, we have held a series of face-to-face sessions with parents, schools, partner agencies and young people. We have heard what is important to families and have gained valuable feedback on how life is for children and young people with SEND and those in AP.
How to get involved?
We want to be sure we hear from as many people as possible, to be sure that our strategy is focusing on the right things. If you are a child or young person with special needs, a parent/carer, or a professional supporting children and young people with SEND, we ask that you take a little time to complete the survey below.
