Welcome to the Harrow to Pinner Cycleway Works information page

The London Borough of Harrow, in partnership with Transport for London (TfL), is delivering improvements to make walking and cycling between Harrow Town Centre and Pinner Station safer, greener, and more convenient.

Background

Consultations were carried out on the four sections of the route during 2023/24. Sections 1–3 received strong public support and progressed to the detailed design stage.

A further consultation on revised proposals for Section 4 (Pinner) took place in early Summer 2025. Following a review of all feedback and a series of design amendments to address local concerns, approval to proceed with the scheme was granted by the Portfolio Holder for Finance and Highways.

Enabling and preparatory works for Sections 1–3 of the route (from Station Road to Pinner Road) have now commenced.

This page will provide regular updates on the project as works progress.

Project Overview

This project is about more than just cycling — it’s about creating safer, greener, and more welcoming streets for everyone who lives, works, or studies in the area.

The improvements will:

  • Enhance connections to town centres, train stations, schools, parks, and bus stops

  • Deliver safer junctions, upgraded crossings, and new greening and public realm features

  • Support more sustainable, active travel choices

The most significant changes to the road layout will take place along Station Road (North Harrow) and Marsh Road (Pinner), with further improvements planned throughout the route, including West Harrow.

What will happen

Harrow Town Centre:

  • Lighting, signage, and environmental enhancements coordinated with the main town centre improvement programme

West Harrow:

  • Tighter junction geometry and increased pavement space

  • New greening features near West Harrow Station and Vaughan School

  • Improved traffic calming to create safer conditions for pedestrians and cyclists

North Harrow:

  • New parallel zebra crossing on Imperial Drive

  • Continuous cycle track through North Harrow

  • Relocated bus stop near the station

  • Renewed pavements, tree planting, and greening

Pinner:

  • Continuous cycle tracks from the Cecil Park 20mph zone to Station Approach

  • New public realm improvements outside Jubilee Parade

  • New or upgraded parallel zebra crossings on Marsh Road and Station Approach

  • Renewed pavements, rain gardens, and greening

Timeline

Sections 1–3 (Station Road to Pinner Road):
Enabling and preparatory works have now started, with full construction planned to progress in phases throughout 2025 and 2026.

Section 4 (Marsh Road):
Construction is expected to begin in January 2026 near Pinner Synagogue, subject to final utility inspections and site mobilisation.
